Cato Scholar Raises Jones Act Awareness in Puerto Rico

(Published by Jones Act Gazette - February issue)

Cato Institute research fellow Colin Grabow was invited to speak at a Puerto Rico ICON Institute event last November about the Jones Act's impact on the U.S. commonwealth. In the approximately half-hour discussion, Grabow addressed the law's history (especially as it pertains to Puerto Rico), its costs, and common arguments used in favor of the Jones Act. Citing evidence of the Jones Act's harm to Puerto Rico over many decades, Grabow said he "couldn't help but think about where Puerto Rico could be absent this burden."
